Improving image accuracy through thoughtful design
Musculoskeletal disorders and bad backs are one of the biggest causes of absences in NHS workforces, caused by unsuitable or poorly maintained equipment. The VELA mammography chair is designed to keep good posture when screening patients and relieve strain on a mammographer’s neck, back, and shoulders.
With an electrically adjustable height and foldable armrests, patients can be secured in a forward-facing position to provide better breast access for greater imaging precision in both CC and MLO views. Quickly positioned on easy running wheels and locked into place with a foot brake, the VELA provides patients with a comfortable seat in what can be an anxious or sensitive situation.
A chair designed for clinical hygiene
The VELA is hygienic and easy to disinfect. The chair has no recesses for dirt to collect in and backrests are supplied with edge bands to stop dirt accumulating in joints. All parts can be disinfected with alcohol or chlorine as recommended in supplier instructions and light-coloured surfaces make it easier to spot marks and stains.
